Pluto is getting interesting.
For the first time, images from NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft are revealing bright and dark regions on the surface of faraway Pluto – the primary target of the New Horizons close flyby in mid-July.
But not of ice. Could be nitrogen.
Pluto has been controversial since it was classified as a dwarf planet. But, as New Horizon moves closer to Pluto, we should learn a lot of things, planet or not.
Here, 70 million miles away, it is already showing us something unexpected. By this summer, it will only be 7800 miles from Pluto.
That will produce some amazing pictures. Just a few months away.
