New salmonella outbreak in chicken resists antibiotics

A salmonella outbreak linked to raw chicken from California involves several antibiotic-resistant strains of the disease and has put at least 42% of the victims in the hospital, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday.

I’ve talked earlier about the Salmonella outbreak and how it has now made CDC employees essential.
Nw we find out why they are so worried. There are at least 7 different stains involved. And several are antibiotic resistant.
But moreworrisome – a much higher number of people than normal are ending up hospitalized. At least 42%.
A lot of those in the hospital are septic, which can be life threatening.
So getting the CDC up to speed fast was essential.
