AOL buys Huffpo
[Via Boing Boing]
AOL is to buy the Huffington Post for $315M. Arianna Huffington will also “take control of all of AOL’s editorial content.” [NYT]

I gave up on the Huffington Post quite some time ago, as it had degenerated into the sort of tabloid writing – it was the anti-vaccine stuff that decided me – seen in so many other sites, like Drudge, Gawker, Politico.
But, good for them, getting a bolus of money for their work. I’m just glad she will take over editorial control of something I do not already read. I do not expect ot to alter my reading habits at all.
When I was a newbie, many moons ago, I had AOL. When I switched, I kept my AOL email address simply so I didn’t have to notify everyone in my address book. Now I want NOTHING to do with AOL. I don’t trust Huffington and an afraid of her/them having any kind of access to my address book. How do I make sure I am out of AOL completely?
Remember, that AOL bought Time Warner. So this is really an old media buy. As long as you never log into an AOL account, you are safe ;-)
