An experimental HIV vaccine has for the first time cut infection rates, in a major trial in Thailand, researchers say.

This was a large , long term study. It used some older versions of two vaccines that had not worked on their own. It was not complete protection, lowering the incidence rate by 30% or so but a positive step is a positive step.
