Mary Roach, author of Bonk, gives a TED talk about Ten Things You Didn’t Know About Orgasm. All based on stuff that appeared in highly reputable scientific journals, but still I find the story about the brushing-teeth woman hard to credit.
(Aimed at adults, or at children who live in families who don’t think sex is dirty.)
Sex science is always fun. And when human sexuality gets messed up, such as when brushing your teeth leads to orgasm, we can learn some interesting things.
I’m reminded of the movie, Brainstorm, where human thoughts and feelings could recorded and played back by someone, where they would feel and see what had been recorded. Of course, one of the guys records himself having sex, then takes the recording and puts it on an infinite loop. They find him several hours later, not in very good shape at all.
Orgasm appears to stimulate the pleasure centers more than any drug we use. If we ever learn how to simulate that stimulation, I would expect the population would drop as something as fun as sex would be available without the mess.
