The main argument was NOT whether there were WMD before the war. We had to fight a war NOW because Saddam was just days, weeks away from using them, giving them to terrorists, etc. We could not wait for inspectors to do their job. It had to be taken care of and taken care of now! We heard Powell discuss just how much and how many. We now have Rumsfeld saying that WMD may never be found and it does not matter. We have Wolfowitz suggesting that WMDs were chosen for bureaucratic reasons. Every day without a smoking gun simply makes this issue more of a problem.
