Do you own anything that plugs into the bottom of your iPhone? An extra charger? An expensive dock? An iTrip? Anything else? Tough luck – its days are numbered. Techcrunch is reporting that Apple is working on a new 19-pin adapter for the iPhone 5, replacing the old 30 pin connector the company has used since the third generation iPod.

So, after 8 years or so, the 30 pin connector is going away. Anyone buying a new iPhone will need new things to attach to the bottom.
All the accessory makers will see an upgrade boom as people by new items. This is a great way to introduce changes.
Especially as there will be someone who makes a 19 pin-to-30 pin connector. A whole new accessory.
This is a nice transition to a new system. I wonder how doing this actually alters the inside and what Apple will do with it?
