Great year for young females in movies

Watch The New ‘Brave’ Trailer – Pixar’s Best Animation Ever
[Via American Times]

So I was already excited about this movie before the latest trailer, but now I can barely stand the thought of waiting until June 22nd to see the 13th Pixar film.

For one thing, Princess Merida looks tough and fiery, and we finally get a strong female lead in a Pixar flick.

This is awesome for those of us with young daughters who need all the good role models they can get, even animated ones. I’ve told my daughter similar stories, of princesses destined to be married off to some knight or other who become knights themselves instead.

This does look like a wonderful movie. The ‘cinematography’ is just amazing. The slow motion of the arrow must have been based on real slow motion because it was to obviously ‘real.’

The world it creates is simply beautiful. And the uncanny valley has never been narrower.

And then we also have The Hunger Games coming up with another strong female lead in an adventure tale. Also someone very good with bows.

I expect archery will see an uptick this year.

I wonder what effect this will have on the movie business? Because its about time.
