Amazon App Store not so nice for developers

Amazon Free App of the Day

Somebody isn’t happy:

That’s right, Amazon gave away 101,491 copies of our app! At this point, we had a few seconds of excitement as well, had we mis-read the email and really earned $54,800 in one day? We would have done if our public agreement was in place, but we can now confirm that thanks to Amazon’s secret back-door deals, we made $0 on that day. That’s right, over 100,000 apps given away, $0 made.

Amazon gives away 100,000 copies and pays nothing to the developers. Amd Amazon gets to decide what the app should cost anyway, dropping the price if it wants to. It rewrites the description of the app, again with no input from the developer and pretty much does whatever it wants, even uf that hurts the developer.

All the time Amazon is telling what a great marketing opportunity this is.

I think most developers would take the known quantity of Apple – 30% and that is it.

You find talent in America so many places, like a NY construction site

Everyone Loves a Singing Construction Worker — Daily Intel

Most of the time, subways have to be operational before the buskers move in. But the Second Avenue subway, not yet built, already has a guy with a karaoke machine and a dream: Gary Russo, a construction worker on the site, has taken to spending his lunch breaks crooning standards to soothe Upper East Siders who might be irritated by the constant, jarring noise of the project. He’s surprisingly charming! And he knows it — check out the wink at the end of video, below. He mostly does Sinatra, but maybe if you ask nicely, he’ll do a little rendition of the YMCA.

Trying to give back at lunch time at a construction site. Very talented.
