Of course, Ben Stein already proved the strength of his intellect as he was one of the financial pundits laughing at Schiff and saying buy Merrill lynch. Ebert expends way too much time and ink on Stein but he really does take the time to ridicule the premise in a well-written way.
One problem is that these people thin they have come up with a new approach that has never been used against evolution before. In fact, there really is no new approach, just new jargon. Intelligent Design has no predictive power and fails to inform us regarding new data.
Evolution continues to help us understand new data as it is generated. That is why gaining an understanding of how placebos work may very well require us to understand how genes evolved and why.
