Urbanspoon, the Seattle online restaurant guide, notes that its iPhone application has been installed on 300,000 iPhones, with about six million shakes in the past 10 days. (People shake their iPhones in order to find a nearby restaurant.)

One more reason to get an iPhone. Shake it and find a good restaurant close to me. Nobody else can do that. They also have a nice ‘heat map’ of where the shakes have been coming from. Iwonder what sort of data mining could be done from 300,000 iPhones?
